Endmoor Primary School, Cumbria

Lea Hough are delighted to announce the successful completion of a significant extension project at St Patrick’s C of E Primary School in Endmoor, Cumbria. This £400,000 development includes a 90-square-metre addition featuring a versatile 62-square-metre multi-use classroom, new toilet facilities, a cloakroom area, and ample storage space.

The expansion addresses the school’s growing number of applicants, which has risen from 62 to 98 students since 2019, and accommodates the increasing demand for school places due to local housing developments.

Hough Chartered Surveyors played a pivotal role in this project, working on behalf of the Diocese of Carlisle to manage the development from inception to completion. Our responsibilities encompassed engaging with all parties involved to ensure the project’s success. Our School Building Consultants collaborated closely with Westmorland and Furness Council, which provided funding through Section 106 contributions from housing developers and Basic Need Funding from the Department for Education.

The construction was executed by Ashbarn Construction, resulting in a high-quality building that will serve the community for years to come.

The new facilities were officially opened in January 2025, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony performed by the Mayor of Kendal, Councillor Jonathan Cornthwaite. The ceremony was attended by school staff and a number of key stakeholders of the project.

Suzanne Edmondson, Head Teacher at St Patrick’s C of E Primary School, expressed her gratitude for all those involved, stating: “Parents, staff, governors and most importantly our children, are all delighted that we finally have our new Year 5/6 classroom and facilities. This project started several years ago and there are lots of people who we owe a debt of gratitude to, who have enabled the completion of this building.

Lea Hough Chartered Surveyors are proud to have contributed to this project that enhances educational facilities and supports the growing community in Endmoor.

We extend our best wishes to the students and staff of St Patrick’s C of E Primary School as they enjoy their new learning environment.
